Lessons

As a teacher and performer, I focus on embracing and encouraging student’s interests, building confidence, trust, and skill in their instrument through exercises, technical knowledge, and performance. The voice is an innate part of the body and our focus is to tune into those natural processes to understand the voice. Through building awareness, technical skill, muscle and musical training, each student can reach and surpass their vocal and musical goals.

Informed teaching is vital to successful lessons, with every student receiving a personalized lesson style tailored to their goals and needs. Every student has a different path to healthy, fun singing and so I provide weekly lessons that are sensitive and flexible. Having built my musicianship around my own hyper-mobility and related physical needs, I have particular experience with hyper-mobile singing techniques. I also have multiple years experience working with neurodivergent students. If you have questions or just want to talk about what your experience might be like, please send me an email and we can schedule a free 10 minute consultation!

Having studied vocal pedagogy and performance at the Peabody Institute, I earned my Master’s of Music in 2023, winning the Annie Wentz Memorial Prize. I began teaching in 2018 while I earned my Bachelor’s in Music and Bachelor’s in Psychology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, earning the Mattie M. Key Award in Music and the Barbara Bershon Arts Alliance Award in Music. Since then I have taught a great variety of students, focusing on musical theatre, jazz, folk, opera and classical voice, and rock, as well as many other other genres and styles. My students are of many ages and walks of life, from child to adult.

When not teaching, I am an active performer in the Baltimore and DC areas! I regularly sing in the local communities, join jam sessions, write and perform original music, and collaborate with fellow musicians, including performing with the jazz group, “The Green Room Trio.”
